Cindy Dandois Wiki

Cindy Dandois is mixed martial artist and former Judoka born October 26th 1984 in Antwerp, Belgium. She has a background in Judo and was trained by former World and European Judo Championship 6 time medalist Johan Laats. She has also trained in Freestyle-Wrestling under the 1956 Olympic Games silver medalist Joseph Mewis.

After a successful grappling career that saw the Battlecat win the Belgian Junior Judo title and a bronze in the Belgian Senior Judo Championships, as well as take the FILA Belgian Grappling title, she transitioned to MMA in early 2009. She has achieved a podium finish over 6 times at the Belgian National Judo Championships, won a gold medal at the Agglorex tournament, a bronze medal at the British Open, and has medalled at multiple A-Division Judo tournaments. She has a JudoInside record of 3 - 4.

Her debut was a baptism of fire facing off against then 16-2 already 8 year veteran and WMMA pioneer Marloes Coenen. Unphased Dandois defeated Coenen by decision. Taking a year off Dandois returned in 2010 to rattle off 3 straight wins over Danish WMMA standout Maria Hougaard Djursaa, Ukrainian submission ace Daria Ibragimova and future German UFC fighter Sheila Gaff.

Her seemingly unstoppable progress came to a sudden halt when she was knocked out in just 34 seconds by top Russian prospect Yana Kunitskaya under the M-1 banner in October 2010. Dusting herself off Dandois returned to TKO undefeated kickboxing superstar Jorina Baars on home turf in Antwerp. Juggling her MMA career with a full time teaching job and three children Dandois stepped away from the sport for several years but was enticed back by friend and training partner Miesha Tate.

Tate and Dandois first crossed paths when the Belgian was brought in to utilise her judo skills to help prepare Tate for an upcoming tussle with Ronda Rousey. Trips to Las Vegas by Battlecat and to Belgium by Tate followed until Dandois decided to make her return to MMA in 2014. As a 5-1 training partner of one of WMMA's superstars, capable of fighting at both bantamweight and featherweight Dandois was snapped up quickly by Invicta Fighting Championships to immediately challenge highly respected future Invicta champion Tonya Evinger. Despite the 45 month layoff Dandois started brightly taking down Evinger and threatening with an ankle lock but to no avail as she eventually succumbed to an armbar in round 2.

Despite this disappointment Dandois plans to stick with MMA, training both with Tate in Vegas and with Perfect Team in Belgium. She is scheduled to fight Australian prospect Megan Anderson at Invicta 14.
